About TypingFast

How speed is measured

A "word" is standardised as five characters, the convention used across typing tests. Net WPM is calculated as(correct characters / 5) / minutes. Raw WPM uses every character you typed, whether correct or not.

Accuracy

Accuracy is the share of keystrokes that were correct on first attempt. Fixing a mistake with backspace lets the character count toward your WPM, but it does not restore the lost accuracy — this is standard behaviour and keeps accuracy meaningful.

Consistency

Consistency compares your speed second by second and reports how little it varied. Two people can share the same WPM while one types evenly and the other alternates between bursts and pauses; the steady typist scores higher and generally improves faster.
